About Glam Radio Wales
Glam Radio Wales is the local station for the Newport, Cardiff and surrounding valleys areas, broadcasting online only with plans to extend to DAB+ across Gwent, Cardiff, Caerphilly, Vale Of Glamorgan and Rhondda Cynon Taff, basing ourselves on the former Valleys Radio coverage in the South Wales valleys. We provide a local service encompassing news, information, travel, weather and what’s ons for the aforementioned areas in particular; and as well as cost effective radio advertising, sponsorships and promotions, as well as an informative South Wales news website, including theatre reviews, restaurant and lifestyle content for South Wales.
News bulletins:
Glam Radio Wales updates it’s website with relevant news stories for the South Wales area, with bulletins on air coming from FSN News at all times at the top of the hour. We also have an extensive social media channel that covers stories across South Wales with our Glam Radio News Facebook page
Automated & Local Programming:
Gwent Broadcasting and Glam Radio Wales prides ourselves on local programming and content. We are committed to as much live and local programming as practical with a volunteer team. Whilst we do not have a set minimum requirement set we aim to be as live and local as possible between 7am and 7pm Monday to Friday and between 8am and 7pm on weekends.

We always take complaints seriously. Station management and management of Gwent Broadcasting will always listen to the output you are concerned about, or read the relevant article and we always respond. It is the nature of live broadcasting that we sometimes get things wrong. When we do, we apologise. We take further action when appropriate and necessary and depending on the seriousness of the content. But sometimes we don’t agree with the complainant, even after reviewing the situation. In that eventuality, listeners can then choose to raise the issue with the Chairman of Gwent Radio DAB Limited who is not involved on a day-to-day basis. Or the complaint could be taken up with Ofcom by using the following link - https://www.ofcom.org.uk/complaints.
Station Format:
Radio station formats are one of the main tools by which a radio station’s character of service is set and in cases of DAB+, monitored by the regulator, generally by the spirit of the output rather than mathematical equations.
Glam Radio Wales format statement says ‘’Glam Radio Wales commits to providing a full local service dedicated to the listeners in the Gwent, Cardiff, Caerphilly, Vale Of Glamorgan and Rhondda Cynon Taff areas of South Wales, combining a wide variety of classic and contemporary music with featured music and talk shows through the evenings and weekends along with Welsh language programming together with a high-quality distinctive range of speech and information features focused on matters of local interest and relevance.’’
The station aims to exceed the minimum commitments that Ofcom dictates for local stations. So we generally broadcast much more than the required hours of local programming that typically that the regulator would want us to typically produce. We give more airtime to local news stories in our measured coverage area with the assistance and partnership of local, community radio stations in the coverage area.
Events and charities policy:
Glam Radio Wales and Gwent Broadcasting are committed to providing coverage for local charities. We do this through on-air "what's ons", by attending events, and on our website.
Sustainability:
Glam Radio Wales, Gwent Broadcasting and associated companies are committed to helping reduce carbon emissions and waste. We run a limited amount of vehicles in order to carry out our work and we encourage presenters to use alternatives to cars if travelling to/from station from a short distance. Bus services that pass outside Gwent Broadcasting’s studios are run by Newport Transport running electric vehicles. We are also a home working station, using Airsuite from Creative Dork for our output when studios are not being used and office staff work on a mix of home and studio-based working.
Data protection:
We are committed to protecting the personal data of everyone we deal with. Glam Radio Wales Data Protection policy is available on request.
Local Ownership:
Glam Radio Wales, Gwent Broadcasting Limited and Gwent Radio DAB Limited are Welsh companies based at 268 Corporation Road, Newport, Gwent, NP19 0DZ
